| Image Upload Process |
|
We have a lot of new members, and it's been a while since our last club show so here's the lowdown on submitting images. You don't email your images, and you don't have to mess around with naming your files in a special format for the club. The uploader takes care of everything for you! And, there's one for the Hollingsworth Exhibit (in the article) as well as the February Photo Critique (on the Club Shows page). Getting the file names right has always been a nuisance, for members and the image coordinator alike. Now you don't have to be bothered with naming your files in a special way. Process your photos and store them on your computer with whatever name you like. The uploader will automatically name the files properly on the server and show you a list of the old and new names. The uploader form has instructions, but here's how it all works:
The uploader does not have general access to the files on your computer. It can only be used to select up to three JPEG image files for transmission to the club's Web site so your computer is safe and secure. And, the uploader works with both Windows and Macintosh computers! When you click the Upload button, the form will be replaced by a status display to let you know the upload is in progress. Once all of your files have been transferred, the status will be updated, with the names of the files you sent and the names stored on the server, to let you know the process is complete, and you can close the uploader popup. As part of the upload operation, an email is automatically sent to let the image coordinator know files have been submitted. The image coordinator will retrieve the files, verify them to be sure they can be viewed and send you a personal email to let you know the images were received. The procedure is easy to use and more reliable. However, there's always the chance of a glitch. If you have any problems or questions, contact the image coordinator with the Images link on the Contact Us page. |
